Is there any reason we don't have a little chat area, even in IRC, that we can brainstorm in and post the meat of the ideas we get there in the forums?
Yeah...cause I didn't install the chat program I downloaded.
I can try to install it..I dunno what will happen when I do though. Maybe it would be best if I had thesifer do it. Incase it implodes the forum.

or we could just make a private (or public) channel in IRC or something with the only warning being the fact that you never know if the 'hawt chixxors' are really bald men in tutus.
Its a addon for the forum software..its downloaded and only a click away from being installed...but I don't wanna click it..

Hell I registered it to me.,...but that was a few eons ago..its probably reverted to no ownership again.

how about IM programs? any program and/or GAIM should be able to conference IM. would work. less risk.
I'll drop thesifer a message and see if i can get him to install a chat program on the forum...we can discuss other options should that fail.
I use trillion its lovely. Could use ventrillo..I know a wow raid server we could abuse..<grin thesifer>

I stopped using trillion when aol snached up icq... hmm so long ago was that haven't seen a version since...
Macromedia has a good chat server out but I think you need their communication server to use it.

True using IM for brainstorming would be quicker than having to use clunky web forums, but I still prefer this for two reasons.
1. All of our "gold" ideas that we come up with when drunk are now stored permanently somewhere, rather than having to keep IM logs on various machines. We have a central repository for sweet ideas.
2. The "slowness" of having to post to the web gives people (read TCA) time to intelligently word posts, and really think about the idea and ramifications before spurting the first thing that comes to their mind (read DC).
PS I realise this is an old post I'm replying to, and probably long forgotten, but I'm trying to get up to speed on the entire project, and get read of all those "new" tags ;)

I've been thinking about writing a little web app that says whether or not the server is currently running GMUD or not. Heck, it could even show how many people are in it. Would there be any way to plug this in to these forums, and how easy would it be?
