Title: New Textblock Commands/Abilities
Post by: schwagg on Mar 12, 2009, 04:36 PM
Had a few ideas for some new textblock commands:

Currently there is a needmonster command that already exists in reg mud. It might also be nice to be able to define a number of monsters for this command. This could be used in a variety of contexts requiring you to be in a room with X amount of the specified monsters in order to proceed on the block.  A simple example would be a room block that requires you to have, say, three fire elementals present in order to proceed through the block to forge a new weapon.

A second text block command that could go hand in hand with the first one I mentioned would be a monster clearing command. This could work very much like the 'clearitem' command, where the specified value would be the database number of the mob, or a value of 0 would clear all mobs in the room. If done this way, it would allow you to clear anywhere from a specific few monsters with several clearing commands, to everything in the room. This is something that could be fairly exploitable depending on how a content developer would set it up, but balance in that regard should be left to the content developer probably and shouldn't limit the engine (in my opinion).

Another nice addition would be a temporary ability than can be granted once per day, but then is removed at cleanup/maint. This would allow for many more possibilities with regards to quests.

Any thoughts?

Can't see any reason not to add them.
