How did he get down there?

Sandstone Stair Landing
    The stairs and walls here are made entirely of sandstone. Nothing looks
like pieces that have been put together but more like it had some how been
tunneled out. A small archway leads to another room which is supplying a dim
light from the east.

Obvious exits: west, up
